Live – Pulled Apart By Horses/The Computers

Pulled Apart By Horse played a sold out show at London’s 1100 capactiy Electric Ballroom on February 23rd 2012 in support of their simply fantastic second album ‘Tough Love’. Support came from The Computers.

It’s rare for a support act to get the complete attention of the crowd. The Computers not only achieved this, but managed to turn the half room ballroom into a swirling pit of jumping, dancing and pushing as their wonderful blend of heavy riffs and politicised lyrics filled the room. Their half hour set was intensely fast paced and finished with lead singer/guitarist Alex playing the final song in the middle of the crowd. The Computers blew the the room away and left the crowd clamoring for more, which is always the sign of a great band and The Computers are a great band.

If The Computers blew the room away, Pulled Apart By Horses annihilated it. Opening with a double hitter of ‘I Punched A Lion In The Throat’ from their debut and the amazing second single from ‘Tough ‘Love’, ‘Wolfhand’ Pulled Apart By Horse set the pace for the evening right away, and that pace was relentless. They blasted through their fifteen set with aplomb and  the crowd threw back every bit of energy that the band threw at them. Pulled Apart By Horse finished their main set with a mind-blowing rendition of ‘High Five, Swan Dive, Nose Dive’ before ending the show with a cover of Nirvana’s ‘Tourettes’ from ‘In Utero’ and ‘Pulled Apart By Horses’ closer, ‘Den Horn’.

Pulled Apart By Horses have always been a live band, their records merely a basis from which they can hang their live shows and it’s good to see that although ‘Tough Love’ is a more polished affair than their self-titled debut, their live shows still hold the gritty intensity and high octane moments that made them such a force on the live scene.

Yesterday it was announced that Pulled Apart By Horses will be opening the mainstage at this years Reading and Leeds festivals so if you’re going, make sure you get to the arena early enough to see their musical assault on the masses.
