Olympic Swimmers – Father Said

Olympic Swimmers are a five piece band from Glasgow, Scotland who creating haunting indie pop music.

Olympic Swimmers debut album No Flags Will Fly was released on June 4th 2012. They’re playing a few gigs around Scotland this summer and I hope they make the long journey over the border and down towards London sooner rather than later.

Father Said is the first track from No Flags Will Fly and it’s essentially three individually brilliant songs, arranged into one mesmerising and exciting track. Father Said breaks away from the usual verse, chorus, verse repetition and instead drives forward with Susan Smillie’s rich Scottish voice leading the way. The vocals ride the wave created by the glorious soundscape that builds throughout the song, getting deeper and more vast as the song progresses before concluding with a euphoric and expansive wall of beautiful noise. Father Said is an enchanting song that has many a vibrant and colourful layer within it.
