This Town Needs Guns – Cat Fantastic

This Town Needs Guns are a three piece from Oxford, UK who delight in toying with time signatures and captivating with their easygoing blend of math rock and contemporary indie

This Town Needs Guns have a new album that is set for an early 2013 release and follows on from 2009’s Animals and last year’s Adventure, Stamina and Anger single.

This Town Needs Guns are undertaking an extensive tour in preparation for their new release, kicking off October 4th in Southampton and taking them the length and breadth of England, eventually finishing up with a hometown show in Oxford on November 10th. This tour includes a headline show at London’s Borderline on November 2nd and another excellent Bad Math curated show at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar in Brighton on November 7th. For those wanting all the dates and links to buy tickets then look no further.

Cat Fantastic is the first track to be taken from their upcoming album and is blooming brilliant. Dreamily swaying over bending math guitar work and unforgiving drum movements, Cat Fantastic is a self-assured comeback from This Town Needs Guns. A busy and overlapping instrumental fills the middle section before some of that bulk drops away for deceivingly complex finale. Cat Fantastic is a dreamy romp through math-fuelled indie and is a track that really washes over you. I cant wait for the album and I suggest you start getting impatient as well.
