Summer Camp – Life

The subtle, reflective ambiance that Summer Camp creates is a far cry from the regimented freedom of summertime escapes. The indie-pop duo draw forth feelings of nostalgia with dashed buoyancy atop haunting vocals.

Life is lifted from the bands Always EP and is a jarring blend of eighties electronica, big beats and ghostly, echoing lament. Building over the course of the track, Life culminates with a soaring peak of melancholic hope that cuts sorrow with optimism, a daring and difficult feat made possible by the glorious vocal style of Elizabeth Sankey. Summer may be a fading memory but Life is bursting with warm, forward momentum.
