Pop Punk tastes better in the sunshine. That’s just a fact.
With this in mind, Candy Hearts, under the watchful eye of Chad Gilbert (New Found Glory), are supplying their own on ‘All The Ways You Let Me Down’. Picking up where they left us on 2012’s exquisite The Best Ways To Disappear, the New Jersey three-piece weave a buoyant and decadent soundscape that dances, bodies entwined, with the sugary vocals.
Despite the sunshine of the music, All The Ways You Let Me Down deals in frustration. Anyone who’s ever been in love will be able to empathies with the irritation, and the desire for more, that drives the lyrics. It’s not the melodramatic heartbreak we’re used to hearing about, more the everyday heartsink we live.
Witty, endearing and utterly charming, Candy Hearts expose the flaws of love, while simultaneously making you fall for them. Love, eh? It’s a funny thing.
